MANILA, Philippines — The stars have landed.
The Indiana Pacers and the Houston Rockets arrived in the country on board separate flights on Monday morning, October 7, just 3 days before their much-awaited matchup in the first-ever NBA game in the country.
The Pacers, the 2012-13 NBA Eastern Conference runners-up, were the first to touch down and are led by superstar wingman Paul George and team president Larry Bird. They were followed by a Rockets squad that will be parading new acquisition Dwight Howard.
Joining Howard for Houston are Asian point guard Jeremy Lin, star scorer James Harden and coach Kevin McHale, who, along with Bird, are the second and third NBA Hall of Famers to set foot in basketball-crazy Philippines.
The NBA Global Games Philippines will be on Thursday, October 10 at 7:00pm at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Before the big event, however, the Pacers and the Rockets are both scheduled to make trips around the city while also conducting several NBA Cares activities for local kids at the Mall of Asia Arena and in some neighborhood basketball courts. – Rappler.com
