MANILA, Philippines – The two-time defending NBA champion Miami Heat needed an extra period to finish the Charlotte Bobcats, 104-96, on Saturday night (Sunday morning in the Philippines) at the Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte, N.C.

LeBron James scored 34 points, including six in overtime, to go along with 8 rebounds to lead all scorers, while Chris Bosh added 25 points and 7 rebounds to lead Miami to their second straight win.

Power forward Al Jefferson led Charlotte with 22 points and 14 rebounds.

Heat players Dwayne Wade and Chris Anderson didn’t play, with Wade suffering from soreness in his knees and Anderson from a right knee contusion.

Ray Allen, who had been shooting poorly this month, started in Wade’s place, finishing with 12 points and 9 rebounds. Greg Oden played his second game in 4 years, scoring a single point and picking up 3 fouls in 7 minutes.

Bobcats point guard Kemba Walker left the game in the third quarter with an ankle injury after landing on Bosh’s foot. He did not return.

The Heat are now 29-11 on the season while the Bobcats drop to 17-25.

The Heat will travel to Atlanta to meet the Hawks on Monday, January 20, while the Bobcats will play the Toronto Raptors at home the same night. – Rappler.com
