According to Department of Education's medal tally, NCR, Western Visayas and Southern Tagalog are on top

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – According to the Department of Education, below is the medal tally for Palarong Pambansa 2012 as of Thursday, May 10, 6 pm.

Note that these medal tallies do not necessarily correspond to overall rankings, since medals are weighed differently, depending on the sport and whether they are individual medals or team medals.

Aside from points given per medal, teams are given an additional number of points if they top certain events such as swimming and athletics.

DepEd has also provided a forecast of the top 6 in overall regional standings. These standings may change, as they are forecasts based on past trends determined by DepEd. They are not definite and are only predicted winners.

Regional Standings:

1st   National Capital Region (NCR)
2nd  Western Visayas (Region 6)
3rd   CALABARZON (Region 4A)
4th   Central Visayas (Region 7)
5th   Central Luzon (Region 3)
6th   Cotabato Region (Region 12)
