May 11, 12:30pm update: NCR reigns supreme
According to Department of Education forecasts, NCR, Western Visayas and Southern Tagalog are top three

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – Below is the Department of Education’s forecast of the top 6 in overall regional standings for Palarong Pambansa 2012. 

These standings may change, as they are forecasts based on past trends determined by DepEd.

This forecast is as of Friday, May 11, 12:30 pm:

1st  National Capital Region (NCR)
2nd Western Visayas (Region 6)
3rd  Southern Tagalog (Region 4-A)
4th  Cotabato Region (Region 12)
5th  Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR)
6th  Northern Mindanao (Region 10)

The standings have several differences from Wednesday’s end-of-day forecast.  

Cotobato region rose two spots, while Central Visayas (Region 7) and Central Luzon (Region 3) have been replaced by new entries CAR and Region 10.

Note that these medal tallies do not necessarily correspond to overall rankings, since medals are weighed differently, depending on the sport and whether they are individual medals or team medals.

Aside from points given per medal, teams are given an additional number of points if they top certain events such as swimming and athletics. –
