Younghusband Brothers ready for Saturday’s CLEAR Dream Match
Phil and James Younghusband look to showcase their skills in the third edition of CLEAR Dream Match

MANILA, Philippines – Phil and James Younghusband look to showcase their skills in the third edition of CLEAR Dream Match at the University of Makati tomorrow, June 7. The CLEAR Dream Match is the only football event where fans gets to see the Younghusband siblings play against each other, with a win earning one brother an edge in the rivalry.

“Even in training the other day, for a few hours it got heated,” said Phil when asked about preparations for their rubber match. “It’s a chance to see who is the better Younghusband.”

This year, the event is bringing in two legends from the biggest club in the world, Manchester United. Eleven-time Premier League title holder Paul Scholes teams up with Phil Younghusband while the 2nd highest goal scorer in Premier League history Andy Cole will be on Team James.

For Phil and James, the chance to play with the Manchester United stars is a chance to learn. The siblings admits to be a huge fan of both, citing that they watched both legends play as kids growing up.

The Dream Match series is tied at 1-1 with James being the defending champion after beating Team Phil with a scoreline of 4-1 last year. For James, the CLEAR Dream Match is a chance to showcase his talent after not being featured much in the recently concluded AFC Challenge Cup where he only played two matches against Afghanistan and Laos.

“Now is my chance to show that I got something to offer as well,” said James. “I’ll have to prove something here. Everyone is talking about this so when team James wins everyone will be saying that James is the better brother.

“I hate losing. It felt great to win last year, we’re looking forward to winning (this year),” added James.
