IN MEMES: The best and worst of Super Bowl XLIX
Only memes could do justice to the head-scratching play calling and Katy Perry's WWE-inspired outfits at this year's Super Bowl

MANILA, Philippines – After the blowout that was Super Bowl XLVIII, NFL fans were overdue for a good one at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.

The spectacle did not disappoint as the contest between the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks came down to the last minute, with the Pats prevailing 28-24.

It was a time of triumph, and also a time of finger-pointing, as Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll took heat for calling the play that led to the interception that clinched the game for New England.

It was also a time for Katy Perry, the star of this year’s half-time show, to ride a mechanical tiger and dress like deceased former WWE wrestler Bam Bam Bigelow.

For all the actions and reactions, there is a meme to summarize all of your feelings. Here are a choice selection of the internet’s creativity.

Marshawn Lynch had been unstoppable all day, and you go for a slant pass in the red zone?

Who wore it better?

Was this their way of announcing Pacquiao-Mayweather?

This is why you shouldn’t call Super Bowl plays on an iPhone

Marshawn Lynch may not do ‘interviews’ but Tom Brady apparently does

#ShermanFace will be the meme gift that keeps on giving

Not to be outdone, Yeezus counters with #KanyeFace

Hey, at least you guys won last year, right?
