MANILA, Philippines – The entire starting unit of the Atlanta Hawks were named the NBA Eastern Conference players of the month for January, the league announced on Thursday, February 5 (Manila time). 

It was the first time in league history the award was given to a starting five. In January, the Hawks went a perfect 17-0, becoming the first squad in NBA history to accomplish such a feat.

The Hawks’ starting unit – comprised of Al Horford, Jeff Teague, Kyle Korver, Paul Millsap, and DeMarre Carroll – each averaged more than 10 points per game the previous month. Teague, Millsap, and Horford were also recently named as reserves for the 2015 NBA All-Star Game this month in New York. 

Atlanta currently owns a 41-9 record, which is best in the NBA.
