MANILA, Philippines – Manny Pacquiao will be back in action on the hardcourt.
The playing coach for Philippine Basketball Association expansion team KIA Carnival was activated to replace injured forward Reil Cervantes, team manager Eric Pineda confirmed to Rappler on Saturday, February 7.
Cervantes, who was the team’s leading scorer in the previous Philippine Cup, was relegated to the reserved/injured list due to a sprained ankle, Pineda said.
The prolific scorer who normed close to 17 points last conference sat out KIA’s last two games, including the franchise’s second win in the league at the expense of this season’s all-Filipino champions San Miguel last Wednesday.

Pineda also confirmed that Pacquiao, who has been frequently traveling as of late from judging the Miss Universe pageant to having dinner with Prince Harry in London, will be arriving in Manila later tonight.
Pineda added the boxing champion will attend and play in KIA’s game on Sunday, February 8 where they will face a surging Barako Bull in a bid to win back-to-back. This will be the first time Pacquiao will attend his team’s game for the 2015 PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
Assistant coach Chito Victolero has been manning the sidelines for KIA in Pacquiao’s absence.
Pacquiao is also in the thick of negotiations with Floyd Mayweather over a megafight anticipated to happen on May 2. – Rappler.com
