MANILA, Philippines – Fan-favorite Los Angeles Laker Nick Young proposed to his girlfriend of over a year-and-a-half and musician Iggy Azalea on Tuesday, June 2 (Monday evening States time) during the NBA player’s 30th birthday bash in Los Angeles, California.
According to the Dailymail.co.uk, Young proposed with a 43-carat Jason of Beverly Hills engagement ring that’s valued at $500,000. “Would you marry me,” Young asked Azalea, singer of hit song “Fancy”, who immediately responded with a “yes.”
“Nick was very involved in designing the ring,” said Jason of Beverly Hills CEO Jason Arasheben, according to the Dailymail. “We wanted it to be both a ring of Iggy’s dreams and a ring that fits her personal style. It is always an honor when a client trusts me to help design a ring that symbolizes one of the most important decisions of their life.”
Azalea is set to turn 25 on June 7, and Young already has plans of making her birthday a special one as well.
“I’m planning trips and everything,” he told PEOPLE Magazine. “It’s going to be a big surprise.”
The couple started dating in September 2013 and have been a fixture on social media since, including a run-in with a dolphin.
Young, who signed a 4-year, $21.3 million deal with the Lakers in the summer free agency of 2014, averaged 13.4 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.0 assist a game last season. – Rappler.com
