MANILA, Philippines – The long wait is over.
The Golden State Warriors clinched the 2015 NBA championship after they closed out the Cleveland Cavaliers, 105-97, on the road in game 6 of the NBA Finals on Wednesday, June 17 (Tuesday, June 16 in the US) at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio.
It is the Warriors’ first NBA title since 1975.
Andre Iguodala won Finals MVP honors with his tremendous boost for Golden State throughout the series, including a team-high 25-point performance in game 6.
The Warriors dominated from the start but the Cavaliers, whose 51-year city title drought continues, fought hard until the very end.
