
MANILA, Philippines – Fans of former SMART-Gilas Team Captain Chris Tiu are elated as the basketball player finally decided to play for the PBA.
The athlete turned in his application for the 2012 PBA draft at 11 am, Friday, August 3, 2012.
Tiu played for his Alma Mater, the Ateneo Blue Eagles for four years until his graduation in 2008 before playing for the national team, SMART-Gilas, where he played for three years.
The shooting guard joins a talented crop of PBA hopefuls including Cebuano big man Junemar Fajardo, Fil-Ams Cliff Hodge and Chris Ellis, NCAA standout Calvin Abueva and many others.
He confirmed the annoucement on Twitter where the news went viral and eventually trended.
The 2012 PBA Draft will be held on August 19, 2012 at Robinson’s Midtown Manila. Petron Blaze Boosters own the 1st and 3rd overall top pick of the draft. The Alaska Aces have the second.
