ON A ROLL. Jameson Bacon’s foe turns out to be durable, but the Filipino fighter comes out victorious just the same.

Holed up in Miami for over 10 months due to the pandemic, Jameson Bacon fights for the third time in just 4 months and raises his record to 26-4

There was no knockout, only an easy victory by Filipino Jameson Bacon over Argentine Ramon de la Cruz Sena on Saturday, January 30 (Sunday, January 31, Philippine time) at the Four Ambassadors Hotel in Miami, Florida.

While Bacon cruised to his third straight win in the United States, compatriot and fellow welterweight Al Rivera lost to Cuban Rances Barthelemy in lopsided fashion at the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall in Los Angeles, California, on the same day.

Coming from back-to-back second-round knockout triumphs over Gonzalo Carlos Dallera and Roque Agustin Junco, Bacon was tipped to stop the veteran Sena in their 10-round encounter.

Sena, however, proved to be durable and Bacon had to settle for 100-90 shutout scores by the 3 judges.

Holed up in Miami with Cuban coach Osmiri Fernandez for over 10 months due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Bacon fought for the third time in just 4 months and raised his record to 26-4 with 17 knockouts. Sena fell to 23-28-3 with 13 knockouts.

The 30-year-old Bacon, trying to make up for the long boxing break he took from 2013 to 2018, is under Sanman Promotions headed by JC Manangquil.

Pitted against Barthelemy, a former two-division world champion, Rivera got outclassed.

The scores were 100-90, 97-93, 99-91, all for Barthelemy, raised in Cuba but is now based in Las Vegas.

Knowing he’s way behind in the scorecards, Rivera went on assault in the 10th and final round, rocking Barthelemy with a left straight but couldn’t follow it up.

Barthelemy, 34, improved to 28-1-1 with 14 knockouts while Rivera, who sustained a cut over his left eye in the third round, tumbled to 21-5 with 18 knockouts. – Rappler.com
