Filipino three-star international boxing referee and judge Cildo Evasco died on Friday, July 2 after a lingering illness, the Association of Boxing Alliances in the Philippines (ABAP) announced.

He was 50 years old.

“We are all saddened by the loss of Cildo. He was not only a committed and esteemed ring official, but a good, honest, and courageous man,” said ABAP president Ricky Vargas.

“Cildo will be sorely missed.”

Evasco officiated several international boxing tournaments, the latest of which were the Tokyo Olympics qualifiers for Africa in Senegal in February last year and for Europe in London in March this year.

He was tapped to serve as ring official for the Olympic qualifiers for the Americas last April but the event got canceled.
