MANILA, Philippines – A fight six years in the making is now just days away.
We are in the final stretch before the battle between two of the most successful boxers of this generation, and social media continues to wait with bated breath.
Two months ago, Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao confirmed the mega-fight using two different social media platforms – Pacquiao via Instagram, and Mayweather through Shots.
Since then, Mayweather and Pacquiao have continued to exchange jabs and power punches on social media. For this online pre-war exchange, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram became their common ground, and their posts became their weapons.
Gone were the days wherein boxers would have to wait for live interviews to throw tirades and talk trash to one another. Social media did not just make that a whole lot easier, but it also made it multimedia.
Netizens were able to have a peek at both fighters' preparations, and true enough, each update they've posted for the world to see has not disappointed.
Aside from their posts related to the upcoming fight, netizens can also take a glimpse of the lives of Mayweather and Pacquiao outside of boxing.
