The Philippines' love for basketball catches BTS member Suga's attention

The Philippines’ love for basketball is so strong that it has reached BTS member Suga.

“I watched Philippine basketball occasionally and the level is really high. They really love basketball,” said Suga in a video message to Filipino ARMYs (BTS’ fandom name).

Suga, who coined his name from “shooting guard,” is an avid basketball fan.

The whole group promised Filipinos that they will visit the Philippines once the COVID-19 pandemic is over.

The Philippines has had a long history of heartbreaks to Korea in basketball.

The only time the country was able to break the “Korean curse” was in the 2013 FIBA Asia Championships, which proved historic for the Philippines as Gilas Pilipinas reached the finals and secured a berth in the 2014 FIBA World Cup for the first time in 4 decades.

BTS is a K-pop global sensation that continues to hit milestones one after another – their historical first Grammy nomination and “Dynamite” music video being the fastest Korean group music video to reach one billion views. – Rappler.com
