NBA legend Kobe Bryant set for Manila return
Bryant will make his first visit to Manila since his pro basketball career came to an end

MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – Recently-retired NBA legend Kobe Bryant is coming to Manila once again at the end of June, Nike announced on Friday, June 17.

Bryant, who played all 20 of his seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers, will make his first visit to Manila since his pro basketball career came to an end in April after scoring 60 points in his finale against the Utah Jazz.

Bryant’s visit to the country will be part of his tour being labelled as The Mamba Mentality, which is the philosophy he hopes to teach young basketball players on their approach to the game.

The press release by Nike states that there will be a “Kobe Academy” on June 26, where “selected ballers, who have shown that they have the skills and Mamba Mentality mindset, will train with the Black Mamba himself.”

Nike will invite “ballers” to the Kobe Academy Pre-Camp from June 22-24 where some will get to qualify for the lessons with Bryant a few days later.

An unspecified event will also take place at the Smart Araneta Coliseum during Bryant’s upcoming visit to Manila on Saturday, June 25, according to the press release.

Last December, Rappler had the opportunity to interview Bryant during the launch of his latest signature shoe. Bryant mentioned during the sit-down that “no question” he was going to visit the Philippines again.

According to Nike, those interested in signing up for the event can do so here– Rappler.com
