MANILA, Philippines – In his last game with the Alaska Aces on September 20, Dondon Hontiveros was stil uncertain of hanging up his sneakers for good after 17 years in the PBA.  

As the 8th Asean Basketball League (ABL) gets underway on November 17, Hontiveros has decided to make a pivotal shift in his basketball career that will see him don the colors of Alab Pilipinas.

The 40-year old sharpshooter, who has made 1,137 triples throughout his PBA career, will be beefing up the arsenal of Alab Pilipinas along with last season’s most valuable player Bobby Ray Parks Jr. 

Widely known as the “Cebuano Hotshot,” Hontiveros is one of the six PBA veterans who were included in the roster. He will be joined by Rico Maierhofer, Josh Urbiztondo, Pamboy Raymundo, Rob Celiz and Oping Sumalinog. 

PBA legend Jimmy Alapag will also take the reigns of the team, for his first head coaching stint.

Alab Pilipinas’ opening game against defending champions Hong Kong Eastern will be on November 19 at the Mall of Asia Arena. – Rappler.com
