Ricci Rivero apologizes for shouting at female fan
The 20-year-old could not hide his frustrations and shouted at a fan asking for a photo with him

MANILA, Philippines – Gilas Pilipinas 2023 cadet Ricci Rivero took to Twitter to apologize after a video of him shouting at a female fan surfaced on social media on Monday, June 11.

In a video posted by FashionPulis, Rivero was on his way to the locker room when a female fan followed him and tried to get a photo with him. However, he shouted at the fan before praying at a nearby cross.

After the video blew up on social media, Rivero issued an apology, saying that his emotions got the best of him after his Gilas cadets absorbed a 72-91 blowout loss to former team De La Salle Green Archers in the Filoil Preseason Cup last April 27.

The 20-year-old was coming off a dismal 6-point outing in Gilas’ tussle with the Green Archers, where the cadets blew a late 20-point lead.

“To the girl in the video and to all that are affected and are disappointed, I am a work in progress and I sincerely apologize for my imperfections,” he wrote.

Rivero insisted that the dugout is a player’s “private place” but said what he showed was still an “unacceptable behavior.”
