LOS ANGELES – Kobe Bryant will miss the NBA all-star game after the Los Angeles Lakers said Tuesday the superstar guard still suffers from pain and swelling in his knee.

Lakers spokesman John Black said Bryant would be examined by team doctors in another three weeks.

“Lakers guard Kobe Bryant … still has pain and swelling in his left knee,” said Black.

“Bryant will continue with a program of non-weight bearing exercise, consisting mostly of working out on a stationary bike.”

Bryant returned earlier this season from an Achilles tendon tear following 7 1/2-months of rehabilitation.

He played just six games before being sidelined again in mid-December, this time with a fractured left knee. That injury was initially only supposed to keep him out six weeks.
