NBA: Spurs work overtime in win over Wizards

WASHINGTON D.C. – It took two overtime periods to do it, but the San Antonio Spurs extended their dominance of NBA rivals Washington on Wednesday with their 16th straight win over the Wizards.

Tim Duncan poured in a game-high 31 points in the 125-118 double-overtime triumph.

Duncan also contributed 11 rebounds and five assists before he fouled out early in the second overtime period.

Patty Mills and Danny Green took up the slack. Mills finished with 23 points and Green chipped in 22 for the Spurs, who won their third straight game.

Marco Belinelli added 14 points off the bench in the victory.

Spurs point guard Tony Parker had just four points and five assists with four turnovers, playing less than 19 minutes before departing at halftime with tightness in his lower back.

He was expected to miss Thursday’s game at Brooklyn.

Last week, Parker had an MRI exam to assess the seriousness of hip and abdominal soreness.

He has also battled shin and finger injuries this season, but the 31-year-old said recently that he was determined not to miss this month’s All-Star game.

John Wall scored 29 points to pace the Wizards, who had won two straight going into the contest.

Bradley Beal had 19 points, Trevor Ariza had 15 points with 10 rebounds and Nene added 12 points for the hosts. – Rappler.com
