Gilbert Arenas to join Allen Iverson in Manila visit
Former Washington Wizards point guard and NBA All-Star Gilbert Arenas will join Allen Iverson, Eddy Curry, and a select group of Ball Up players in Manila

MANILA, Philippines – Former Washington Wizards point guard and NBA All-Star Gilbert Arenas will join Allen Iverson, Eddy Curry, and a select group of Ball Up players in Manila in November for “All In,” a basketball fundraiser for the benefit of Gawad Kalinga.

The event is scheduled to take place on November 5 at the Mall of Asia Arena, as Arenas is expected to team up with Curry and a select group of UAAP and NCAA All-Stars and PBA legends that will go up against Ball Up players coached by Iverson.

Arenas will be making his first visit to the Philippines in six years.

“I’m excited to come back and see everyone in the Philippines,” Arenas mentioned in a text message to sports agent Sheryl Reyes.

“It’s been six years, but I can still remember the warmth and love I received from my Filipino fans. I’m so honored and blessed to be a part of this event and help build homes for the poor.” (RELATED: Stephon Marbury’s career finds new life in Asia)

“I’m very happy and thankful that Ball Up has helped me tap Gilbert for this event and that he agreed to join us,” Reyes mentioned in a press release to the media. “He has always been involved in charity work anywhere in the world, and we’re grateful that he will be coming with the other guys to help less privileged Filipinos.”

Arenas, a three-time NBA All-Star, averaged 20.7 PPG and 5.3 APG in his 12-year pro career.

His best season was in 2005-2006, when he led the Wizards in scoring by putting up 29.3 PPG to go with 6.1 APG and 2.0 SPG.

Proceeds of ‘All In’ will go to Gawad Kalinga, with ticket prices for the charity game ranging from as low as Php 600 (General Admission) to Php 6,500 (VIP). – Rappler.com
