‘No guarantee’ for Standhardinger to see action in FIBA 3×3 World Cup 2018
Standhardinger is still recovering from knee-related issues as he continues to sit out in SMB's games

MANILA, Philippines – The FIBA 3×3 World Cup is 3 days away and there is still no guarantee that Fil-German Christian Standhardinger will be suiting up for the Philippines’ campaign on Saturday, June 9.

“There’s no guarantee [that I’ll be playing], but I can say that I will try everything in my power,” said the San Miguel forward.

Standhardinger is still recovering from knee-related issues – patellofemoral pain syndrome and iliotibial band syndrome – which forced him to sit out of the San Miguel Beermen’s game against Barangay Ginebra last Sunday.

The Fil-German has been committed to attending the practices of the Gilas Pilipinas 3×3 team composed of Stanley Pringle, Roger Pogoy and Troy Rosario in the hopes of joining them on the floor.

“I have not been training with them but I’ve been in training,” explained Standhardinger.

“Just sitting there, looking at the place, I watch the other teams now and I have a little picture so I just need to go out and we need to [play] and hopefully my knee will allow me to do that.”

The Philippines is grouped in Pool C with Russia, Brazil, Mongolia and Canada. (LOOK: FIBA 3×3 World Cup 2018 Philippine team schedule)
