WATCH: Impromptu 3-point shootout raises money for Sager Strong Foundation
A total of $500,000 was raised for cancer research in honor of Craig Sager

MANILA, Philippines – An impromptu 3-point shootout stole the show on Saturday, February 18 (Sunday morning in Manila), during the 2017 NBA All-Star Weekend festivities in New Orleans.

Following the 3-point shootout contest, basketball stars and celebrities in street clothes at the Smoothie King Center participated in the impromptu shootout to raise money for cancer research through the Sager Strong Foundation, in honor of the late Craig Sager.

Among those who participated are the 3-point contest finalists – Kyrie Irving, Eric Gordon, and Kemba Walker – as well as the likes of James Harden, DeMar DeRozan, and DJ Khaled.

Each made basket meant they donated $10,000 to the foundation and they eventually wound up with $130,000.

Reigning two-time MVP Stephen Curry was then brought in to try and make a halfcourt shot that would up the amount to $500,000. The Golden State Warriors star, however, was unable to get one to fall after several attempts.

A heartwarming moment then took place as Sager’s youngest son Ryan came out, and with Shaquille O’Neal lifting him up to the hoop, made an easy bucket to reach the $500,000 amount. – Rappler.com
