MANILA, Philippines – The NBA unveiled specially designed shirts as it pays homage to Filipino culture through the first-ever Filipino Heritage Week from March 13 to 19.

The design showcases the iconic Philippine symbol of the jeepney along with the word “PILIPINAS” and part of the sun rays from the country’s flag.

The shirts, which come in red, blue, gray, black, and white, will be available starting March 16 at all NBA Stores in Metro Manila and Cebu, plus Titan stores in the Fort, Conrad, and the Titan webstore.

The Golden State Warriors as well as the Miami Heat will host Filipino Heritage Nights, featuring in-arena Philippine-themed activations including musical performances and giveaways as part of the celebration.

Matchups to watch out for during Heritage Week include the Heat – coached by Filipino-American Erik Spoelstra – taking on the New Orleans Pelicans on March 15 (the following day in Manila), as well as another Heat game against the Minnesota Timberwolves on March 17 (March 18 in Manila).

The Warriors, for their part, will battle the Milwaukee Bucks on March 18 (March 19 in Manila). Singer and songwriter Martin Nievera will sing the national anthem during Golden State’s Filipino Heritage Night, while the LIKHA Pilipino Folk Ensemble will perform at halftime. – Rappler.com
