Carmelo Anthony only waiving no-trade clause for Houston, not Cleveland －report
MANILA, Philippines－New York Knicks star Carmelo Anthony has seemed to narrow down his list of league destinations as he reportedly wants to be traded only to the Houston Rockets, per the the New York Post.
The 33-year-old forward had been reported to be interested in joining the Rockets and the Cleveland Cavaliers as possible routes come the next NBA season, but his interest to join LeBron James seemed to dwindle down following the news of Kyrie Irving’s trade request drama.
While Irving has recently been at the center of offseason reports indicating that the Cavs guard “wants to be traded to Knicks very badly,” netizens pondered whether a deal between the two teams would be happening soon－ with Anthony as the focus of a possible package.
The recent turn of events, however, made the 10-time All-Star pause on a decision, with Anthony now considering waiving his no-trade clause only for Houston.
“A stalemate has ensued as sources indicate Anthony only wishes to waive his no-trade clause to go to the Rockets,” reads the New York Post’s article which came out Monday evening, July 31 (Tuesday in Manila).
“Not even Cleveland, which is in turmoil, is good enough for Anthony as the Cavaliers are dealing with Kyrie Irving’s trade demand.”
Anthony is coming off another firm statistical season after averaging 22.4 points, 5.9 rebounds and 2.9 assists with the Knicks, who failed to make the playoffs after garnering a 31-51 regular season record. They finished 12th in the Eastern Conference ladder. – Rappler.com
