The 4-time MVP, who's vying for an 8th straight trip to the title series, hopes to carry Cleveland again as the Cavs try to stay alive against the Celtics

WASHINGTON, United States – As the Cleveland Cavaliers try to stay alive against Boston Celtics in Game 6, another record will be on the line – LeBron James’ streak of NBA Finals appearance.

But James, who’s seeking an 8th straight trip to the title series, said that streak wouldn’t be on his mind come Friday, May 25 (Saturday, May 26 in Manila), when the Cavaliers try to force a Game 7 against the Boston Celtics in the NBA Eastern Conference finals.

“Not at all,” he said. “It’s just all about win every game and it should put us in position to play for a championship.

“We look forward to having an opportunity to force a Game 7. It’s up to us to see if we can come back here (to Boston) for one more.”

The Celtics drubbed the Cavaliers, 96-83, in Game 5 to move within a win of a championship berth.

During the game, the 4-time Most Valuable Player looked at times as if he were feeling the effects of the heavy load he has carried for the Cavs in these playoffs.

“I think everybody at this point is tired or worn down or whatever the case may be,” James said. “I’m fine.”

James paced the Cavaliers with 26 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Kevin Love, who had 14 points, was the only other player to score in double figures for the squad.

“Defensively we gave ourselves a chance,” said James noting the Cavs held the Celtics to 36.5 percent shooting.

“At one point we had two opportunities to cut it to single digits and missed some really good looks, two 3-pointers. We couldn’t make. And if you don’t make, it’s going to come back to bite you.”

Cleveland will host Game 6 in a bid to stay on track for a 4th straight trip to the Finals. Game 7, if needed, will be back in Boston on Sunday.

The winner of the series will play either the Golden State Warriors or Houston Rockets for the NBA crown. The Western Conference rivals are locked at 2-2 in their series. – Rappler.com
