Kyrie Irving not closing door on LeBron James reunion in Boston

MANILA, Philippines – Despite getting swept in the finals against the Golden State Warriors, it seems that the hottest talk in town is still LeBron James and his impending free agency this off-season from the Cleveland Cavaliers.

He has been linked to powerhouse teams like the Houston Rockets, San Antonio Spurs and even the dynasty-building Warriors. He’s also been tied to big market teams like the Los Angeles Lakers, who are seemingly ready to jump back to relevance after yet another losing season in the post-Kobe Bryant era.

However, Lakers fans may swallow their bitterest pill yet, as the name of the 33-year old 4-time MVP is now being tossed around in the last place they could ever want: Boston.

Yes, just one season removed from James’ breakup with star point guard Kyrie Irving, the All-Star duo may just wear the same colors yet again, this time in the iconic green and white.

But perhaps the most surprising detail of this story is Irving’s openness to the idea.

“In this business, I’ve kind of experienced it all and I’ve seen a lot, so we’ll see what management decides,” Irving said in media interviews. “Obviously, it’s a business at the end of the day. Ownership and management, they’re going to feel what’s best for our future and I’m fully supportive of (them). We’ll see what happens.”

He did not confirm nor deny his interest to the impending reunion, but his silence says it all.

Irving, 24, was traded to the Celtics last offseason for fellow All-Star Isaiah Thomas and Jae Crowder, so he can apparently lead a team away from the imposing shadow of a talent like James.

Joe Vardon of Cleveland.com even revealed that “Uncle Drew” even threatened to force surgery  on his ailing knees if he wasn’t moved out.

Soon after the trade, the imminent playoff war between the Cavs and the Celtics became the most prevalent storylines of the recently-concluded season. While the two squads eventually met up in the Eastern Conference Finals, Irving was unable to prove himself as, ironically enough, his knees kept him out of action for the entirety of the playoffs.

Now, it seems that Irving has changed his tune. Whatever the case may turn out to be, the recruitment drive for LeBron James will again be a fight to the finish. – Rappler.com
