Collin Sexton and Kai Sotto train under the same skills coach and the Cavs hotshot says the Filipino teen can definitely ‘shoot it and space the floor’

MANILA, Philippines – As Filipino unicorn Kai Sotto progresses with his intensive training in Atlanta, USA, it seems that he has quickly caught the attention of scouts and players alike.

Even his talented workmates have noticed, most notably Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Collin Sexton.

With the two stars currently training under skills coach Nick Stapleton, the Cavs’ hotshot rookie realized he was seeing the game of a hoops legend slowly forming into the 7-foot-2 Sotto.

“Probably like a Dirk [Nowitzki], who can shoot it and space the floor,” Sexton said in a meet-and-greet event at Makati with AXA Philippines on Friday, May 17.

“He can shoot the three ball so he’s really cool and different just because he’s 7 feet.”

“He’s able to run the floor and shoot it, put it on the floor, he can do a lot so he’s just got to continue to work and he’s gonna get better,” he continued. “The sky is the limit for him.”

The 16-year-old wunderkind left the country last month to train full-time in the US while his family mulls multiple offers from elite European clubs.

So far, Sotto has clearly impressed the people training with him, as Sexton already showered him with praises in previous interviews while he’s in the country for the Jr NBA.

While the road ahead for the Batang Gilas superstar is still long and bumpy, having a current NBA player liken his game to a surefire Hall of Famer definitely helps in a way.

Sotto will return in June to represent the country in the upcoming FIBA U19 World Cup in Greece. – Rappler.com
