Gobert claims second straight NBA Defensive Player of the Year
MANILA, Philippines – Rudy Gobert captured his second straight Defensive Player of the Year plum in the 2019 NBA Awards on Monday, June 24 (Tuesday, June 25, Philippine time).
The Utah Jazz big man joined elite company as he became one of only 10 players in NBA history to win the award multiple times.
Norming 2.3 blocks and .8 steals to go with 15.9 points and 12.9 rebounds, Gobert bested MVP contenders Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks and Paul George of the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Antetokounmpo averaged 1.5 blocks and 1.3 steals with 27.7 points and 12.5 rebounds, while George had 2.2 steals on top of 28.0 points and 8.2 rebounds. – Rappler.com
