MANILA, Philippines – San Miguel Beermen superstar and two-time reigning PBA MVP June Mar Fajardo was stretchered out of the Smart Araneta Coliseum playing court after hurting his knee during the third quarter in Game 6 against the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters on Friday, January 15.

Fajardo was hurt at the 7:11 mark of the third period after his left knee buckled while boxing out for an offensive rebound against Rain or Shine forward Jireh Ibanes.

Ibanes, who was beside Fajardo, used his hips and backside to box out the bigger San Miguel player, but collided with the back of Fajardo’s knee.

Fajardo then fell to the ground and held on to his left knee for a few minutes before a stretcher was brought out to carry him out of the playing court and into the San Miguel locker room. He left the game with 14 points and 12 rebounds in 25 and a half minutes.

According to PBA courtside reporter Rizza Diaz, Fajardo said he heard a pop when his knee twisted. It’s currently being iced.

In the semifinals against Rain or Shine, Fajardo has been putting up 35 points and 16 rebound a game. – Rappler.com
