Brickman, Potts headline Fil-Foreign PBA D-League draft applicants
After achieving success in their respective leagues, the two aim to do the same in the PBA D-League

MANILA, Philippines – Asean Basketball League (ABL) standout Jason Brickman and NCAA champion Davon Potts of the San Beda Red Lions highlight the list of this year’s PBA D-League Draft applicants.

The draft is set to take place on Tuesday, December 20, at the PBA Cafe in Metrowalk, Pasig.

An all-around basketball player who can score, rebound, and pass, Brickman helped the Westports Malaysia Dragons win the recent ABL tournament title along with Phoenix Fuel Masters draft pick Matthew Wright.

According to a press release from the PBA, Brickman averaged 13.2 points, 10.7 assists, and 5.6 rebounds a game while winning Finals MVP.

Aside from winning a championship in the ABL, Brickman was also part of Mighty Sports-Philippines’ roster when they won the 2016 Jones Cup chip.

Brickman, who was born in San Antonio, Texas, also achieved a few records while playing NCAA Division I basketball. The 6-foot LIU Brooklyn standout led the collegiate league in assists twice (2013, 2014), and is the fourth all-time assists leader with 1,009 dimes.

Potts, who in his first season with San Beda earned the nickname “Mr. Fourth Quarter” for his clutch performances, put up 15.2 points and 3.6 boards a game in the NCAA, where San Beda defeated Arellano to win the collegiate league’s championship.

Moreover, Potts, 22, defeated former PBA MVP Willie Miller in the 2016 Red Bull King of the Rock Philippines tourney this past March.

A total of 15 Filipino-foreigners applied for this year’s D-League draft. Another notable name is Andreas Cahilig who was a standout in the NAASCU.

A total of 113 total applicants will try their luck in the draft, with DLSU superstar Jeron Teng expected to be the top selection. – Rappler.com
