Allein Maliksi hits final money ball to become PBA 3-point shootout champ

MANILA, Philippines – Star Hotshots’ Allein Maliksi knocked out two-time titleholder Terrence Romeo to snatch the 3-point shootout trophy in the 2017 PBA All-Star Week on Friday, April 28 at the Quezon Convention Center in Lucena City.

Maliksi triumphed by only a slight edge against his opponents after listing 20 markers in the final round, capped by a final money ball connect which made the difference. Barangay Ginebra’s LA Tenorio led the preliminaries with 23, but finished as runner-up with 18 points on the board.

GlobalPort Batang Pier’s Terrence Romeo failed to make it a 3-peat after a few misses on the last rack, and came in 3rd with a final tally of 17. 

Maverick Ahanmisi, who earlier repeated as the Obstacle Challenge champion, meanwhile failed to advance to the next round after punching in 14 points. 

Also failing to advance to the final round were Simon Enciso, Ronjay Buenafe, Gary David, Jared Dillinger, Juami Tiangson, Matthew Wright, Marcio Lassiter, and Larry Fonacier. – Rappler.com
