MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – Veteran sharp-shooter Jeff Chan has ended his 8-year long era with the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters after he was traded to the Phoenix Fuel Masters, the PBA announced on Monday, August 7.
Chan, 33, was dealt to Phoenix in exchange for Mark Borboran and a 2020 second round draft pick, not a 2017 pick as earlier reports stated.

Rain or Shine guard Jericho Cruz posted a photo with Chan on his Instagram account and already expressed his gratitude to his mentor.
“Thank you manong for everything. It’s been a great run with you. I learned a lot from you. I’ll always remember the things that you taught me. You will always be the sniper of ROS. I wish you nothing but the best with your new team,” Cruz wrote.
Chan, known for his clutch outside shooting, was a vital cog in the Painters squad especially during the time of coach Yeng Guiao. He won two championships with the franchise in 2012 and in 2016. Chan, also a 5-time All-Star, was named Finals MVP during the 2012 Governors’ Cup title run.
But over the past year Rain or Shine has been overhauling its team that included the major one-on-one exchange of star guard Paul Lee for Star Hotshots’ erstwhile franchise player James Yap.
Guiao also made his move to the NLEX Road Warriors prior to the start of this season. – Rappler.com
