WATCH: Rey Guevarra windmills his way to 4th Slam Dunk title
It took 3 rounds in the finals before the Phoenix forward defeated Blackwater's Renz Palma

BATANGAS CITY, Philippines – Rey Guevarra banked on his experience to trump a young challenger and bag his 4th Slam Dunk title.

The Phoenix Fuel Masters forward converted a windmill off a bounce as he edged Blackwater rookie Renz Palma in the Luzon leg of the 2018 PBA All-Star Week here at the Batangas City Sports Arena on Friday, May 25.

After two ties in the final round, Guevarra, who won 3 straight Slam Dunk crowns from 2014 to 2016, broke out the windwill for a perfect score of 40 to beat Palma, who earned 39 points following an effortless reverse 180 dunk.

In the first round of the finals, Palma was groomed to win the title with a near-free-throw-line dunk for 39 points but Guevarra matched his score with a reverse between-the-legs jam.

The 31-year-old Guevarra, who cashed in P30,000, dethroned last year’s champion Chris Newsome of Meralco.

Other participants were Alaska’s Marion Magat, GlobalPort’s Lervin Flores and San Miguel’s Matt Ganuelas Rosser.
