Wright all riled up over technical foul
MANILA, Philippines – Matthew Wright felt frustrated after getting slapped with a technical foul even as the Phoenix guard thought he fell victim to Malcolm White's physicality during the Fuel Masters' victory over GlobalPort in the PBA Commissioner's Cup on Wednesday, June 20.
"They gotta get their sh*t together," Wright said of the officiating.
In the 5:46 mark of the second quarter, the standout guard got clotheslined by White as he was handling the ball in the paint. Wright was forced to commit a turnover before a technical foul was called.
"The league has got to do something because the referee-ing is horrible," added Wright.
"I can’t explain how mad I am because Malcolm has done that. He’s done that in this league to Chris Tiu. I’ve seen him knock his tooth out, I’ve seen him hit Renaldo Balkman in the head."
Wright eventually fouled out of the game in the last 3:46 minutes of the final frame after tallying 24 points off a 6-of-8 shooting from the arc.
Wright and Phoenix import Eugene Phelps led the Fuel Masters to their first win in 5 games even after losing Jeff Chan to Ginebra last Monday.
The Fuel Masters will take a much needed two-week break before facing the Alaska Aces on July 6.
"The team needs a bit of a break, a breather, take them out of basketball, kind of regroup, and you know just settle and balance themselves out, but we’ve got one more game against Alaska and it’s going to be pivotal," said Wright. – Rappler.com
