The Gin Kings secure a 3rd straight win to bolster their PBA playoffs drive

MANILA, Philippines – Barangay Ginebra rolled past Columbian Dyip, 134-107, to pick up its 3rd straight win in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup on Wednesday, June 20, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

“The winning streak doesn’t really mean anything. It’s all about the next game,” said Ginebra head coach Tim Cone.

Justin Brownlee led the Gin Kings with a double-double of 24 points and 10 rebounds, highlighted by a one-handed slam in the last 6:14 minutes that helped the crowd favorite stretch their lead to 30 points.

The Dyip’s woes contined to pile up by the 10:23 mark of the 4th quarter when topscoring import John Fields accidentally slipped and hurt his right foot and was subbed out momentarily.

Scottie Thompson also starred in the Ginebra domination with a triple-double of 12 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists.

Ginebra improved its record to 4-5, while Columbian fell to 4-6.

Fields finished with a double-double of 30 points and 16 rebounds for the Dyip.
