Magnolia wins back-to-back as Columbian crashes anew
MANILA, Philippines – Magnolia banked on the trio of Ian Sangalang, James Farr, and Paul Lee to stage a 110-103 victory over Columbian in the 2019 PBA Commissioner's Cup at the Araneta Coliseum on Sunday, June 16.
Sangalang delivered 22 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 blocks, while import Farr chalked up 22 points, 11 rebounds, and 2 steals as the Hotshots made it two wins in a row after dropping their first two games.
Lee was just as impressive in the win by finishing with 21 points – with 11 points coming in the 3rd quarter that saw his side turn back the Dyip to enjoy a 15-point lead.
Magnolia trailed 61-62 midway through the 3rd period until a Lee triple sparked a 15-0 run that buried Columbian by 14 points.
Minutes after, Mark Barroca sank another three-pointer as the Hotshots held their biggest advantage of the game at 85-70.
Jio Jalalon had 17 points, 12 rebounds, 7 assists, and 2 steals for Magnolia, while Barroca and Rodney Brondial added 9 and 8 points, respectively.
Import Lester Prosper had a stellar PBA debut with 26 points, 14 rebounds, and 2 blocks, but the Dyip failed to ride on his big game and fell to 1-4.
CJ Perez put up 18 points and 2 steals, while Glenn Khobuntin and Rashawn McCarthy added 14 and 11 points, respectively, in the losing effort.
