NLEX snaps losing streak at Blackwater's expense
MANILA, Philippines – The NLEX Road Warriors snapped their three-game losing streak by defeating the Blackwater Elite, 104-84, on Friday evening, November 21, at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City.
Asi Taulava, who went old school and wore classic Chuck Taylors for the game, led the way with 24 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists for the Road Warriors, who improved to 3-4 following their victory against the now 0-8 Elite.
"We really worked hard executing both on defense and offense," NLEX head coach Boyet Fernandez said after the game. It showed today that if we executive our defensive patterns, we are capable of winning games."
NLEX used a 32-21 second quarter to build a 17-point lead at the half and never relinquished their lead the rest of the way.
Taulava scored 15 of his 24 points in the third quarter, where the Road Warriors increased their lead to 23, 85-62, entering the final period.
Mac Cardona had another high-scoring output, going off for 21 points while Aldrech Ramos pitched in with 16 markers.
Ogie Menor led the Elite with 15 points, while Rob Celiz finished with 11.
NLEX will try to improve their record back to .500 when they take on the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters on Tuesday, November 25. Blackwater, on the other hand, will be back in action on Wednesday, November 26, against Barako Bull.
