Josh Davis to suit up for Meralco on Friday
Meralco Bolts import Josh Davis isn't yet 100% following a "severe muscle contusion" but will play in Friday's game against NLEX

MANILA, Philippines – Close to a week after suffering a severe muscle contusion on his left hip, Meralco Bolts import Josh Davis will suit up on Friday, February 27, when his team takes on the NLEX Road Warriors.

Meralco team manager Paolo Trillo confirmed to Rappler on Thursday, February 26, that Davis will be in action against the Road Warriors, though admitted that the high-energy 6-foot-8 import is not yet 100%.

Davis injured his hip after biting on a pump fake of June Mar Fajardo during Meralco and San Miguel’s game on Saturday, February 21, in Cagayan De Oro City.

The San Diego state product landed square on his left hip and did not return for the rest of the game after putting up just 4 points and 5 rebounds in 13 minutes and 34 seconds.

The Beermen wound up winning the contest, 102-86, and gave Meralco, 5-1, their first loss of the conference.

Trillo didn’t say if Davis will be on a minutes restriction and pointed out that decision will depend on team head coach Norman Black.

Davis, 24, is averaging 20 points and 17 rebounds a game this conference. His strong play and Meralco’s hot start has him as an early favorite to win Best Import of the Conference honors.

NLEX, 2-4, is coming off a win against the Beermen. Their import Al Thornton has been superb so far, averaging 31 points and 12 rebounds a contest.
