MANILA, Philippines – Maybe it was the smallest PBA ballers, widely referred to as “minions,” soaring and slamming. Maybe it was last year’s Slam Dunk champ Justin Melton throwing it down hard… 10 feet away from the rim. Or maybe it was Joe Devance channeling his inner troll.

Whatever it was, this year’s eventful PBA All-Star Weekend spawned some pretty hilarious memes online that left us scrolling, and laughing, endlessly.

The Terrence Romeo Show

Terrence Romeo just cannot win over anybody, can he?

He drops 50 points to try and carry the Sophomores over the Rookies, he’s the villain.

 

 

He settles for 30 points and helps deliver the underdog North All-Stars to victory, and he’s still the bad guy.

This meme, though, explains exactly why Romeo won the All-Star Game MVP over Calvin Abueva, who scored more points than Romeo.

 

To be fair, Calvin Abueva did have a pretty neat statline.

 

Dunking Minions

It was everybody’s dream come true: point guards punishing the rim.

The Rookies vs Sophomores game Friday was truly in a class of its own. The young guns provided high entertainment value and innovation when the tables turned and the big guys “assisted” the small guys for some nasty throwdowns.

Yeah, that’s pretty much how Melton will be remembered for this particular edition of the PBA All-Stars. He made it on CNN and ESPN. He even made it on Shaqtin’ A Fool! Oh wait…

 

He did go places, though.

 

Even Daniel Orton found it hilarious.

Ultimate Troller

It’s quite clear that Joe Devance wins this year’s Ultimate Troller award. I am not exactly sure how anybody could dispute it.

Highlight of the Weekend

Amid the fun times, the highlight of this year’s All-Stars is definitely Jimmy Alapag’s jersey retirement ceremony.

For all the laughter we got, there were tears to go with it.
