KeraMix Mixers win D-League debut in style
MANILA, Philippines - The KeraMix Mixers made their PBA D-League debut in impressive fashion by blowing out the MP Hotel Warriors, 87-60, on the opening day of the 2015 PBA D-League Foundation Cup on Thursday, March 12, at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
KeraMix, which took over for former D-League franchise Racal Motors, raced off to a 23-6 lead after 10 minutes of play and led 41-16 at halftime, before proceeding to cruise to an easy victory.
Jeff Viernes played well, finishing with 20 points on 50% shooting, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists, while Michael Digregorio put up 14 points on just 8 shot attempts.
The Mixers were on point from downtown all game long, going 10-of-26 while shooting a total 41.9% from the field. They also did a much better job taking care of the ball, coughing up just 9 turnovers compared to 17 by MP Hotel.
The Warriors were led by Rey Nambatac, who was the team’s lone double-digit scorer with 15 points. As a team, MP Hotel connected on an abysmal 2-of-26 from 3-point range.
Jam Jamito was also superb for KeraMix, compiling a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds. Sinag Pilipinas pool member Jiovani Jalalon also performed well, finishing with 12 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists, and 4 steals.
