Bagatsing triple bails KIA out against NLEX
MANILA, Philippines – Hyram Bagatsing knocked down the go-ahead three-pointer with 1 second left and bailed the KIA Carnival out, 85-82, versus the NLEX Road Warriors in the 2015 PBA Governors’ Cup on Monday, May 18 at the Ynares Center-Antipolo.
Bagatsing saved KIA after it blew a 9-point advantage entering the final 6 minutes, allowing NLEX to tie the contest on a Kwame Alexander basket with 15 seconds left.
But the 30-year old Bagatsing came through with the huge basket in KIA’s final possession and improved their record to 2-1. He finished with 8 points and 4 assists off the bench for the Carnival and played a total of just 13 minutes.
Asian import Jet Chang and guard LA Revilla led KIA with 15 points apiece. Chang poured all of his points in the second half, while Revilla 5 assists and 3 steals.
Jason Deutchman and Alex Nuyles contributed 10 markers each off the bench as the Carnival overturned a 50-36 halftime deficit. KIA outscored NLEX by 27-11 in the third period to lead by 63-61 heading into the final frame.
The Road Warriors got 22 points and 10 boards from Alexander as they fell to 1-3. Big man Asi Taulava posted 17 markers, grabbed 7 rebounds and dished out 3 assists while Mark Borboran had 10 points and 7 rebounds.
Mark Cardona, who missed NLEX’s final shot attempt, chipped in 8 points.
