'The Philippines, I love you. I'm on my way,' says the retired American boxer

MANILA, Philippines – Following trips to several Asian countries, retired boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr is heading to Manila to have some fun under the sun.

In an Instagram video posted by Vans Philippines’ Wendell Cunanan, Mayweather announced that the Philippines will be his next stop.

“It’s Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather. I’m on my way to the Philippines. I love the Philippines, I love all the fans, thanks for all the support,” he said.

“The Philippines, I love you. I’m on my way.”

The boxer, who holds an immaculate 50-0 record, spent his week traveling to Dubai, Singapore, and Indonesia.

In the video, Mayweather also shared that he has a Filipina as his personal assistant – Marikit “Kitchie” Laurico.

Cunanan, in a separate Instagram post, said Laurico is one of the main reasons for the 41-year-old boxing icon’s upcoming visit to the Philippines.

“I got a Filipino team, that’s my Asian team. The Philippines, Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather on his way to Manila, get ready, I’m on my way,” said Mayweather.

Mayweather last fought in 2017, defeating UFC superstar Conor McGregor for his 50th win. He pulled off a 10th-round technical knockout of the Irish before deciding to hang up his gloves.

He also beat Filipino champion Manny Pacquiao via unanimous decision in 2015 in what was billed as the “Fight of the Century.” – Rappler.com
