MANILA, Philippines – Unbeaten flyweights Michael Enriquez and Jake Bornea will clash Tuesday night in a 10-round bout at the Oval Plaza Covered Court in General Santos City. The event will be free to the public.

Enriquez (7-0, 4 knockouts) of Cagayan de Oro and Bornea (4-0, 3 KOs) of General Santos City will both be facing their first tests as professionals. Promoter Jim Claude Manangquil of JM Promotions says that both fighters had over 160 amateur bouts.

Bornea, 18, is a former member of the Philippine national amateur boxing team, which his twin brother Jade is still a member of. Enriquez, 22, won six gold medals in national competitions but turned down an offer to join the National team to turn professional in 2011. Manangquil says that Bornea prefers to fight from a distance behind his jab while Enriquez is a come-forward brawler.

At Monday’s weigh-in, Bornea weighed 110 pounds while Enriquez checked in at 111.

The undercard will feature former world title challenger Jether Oliva (19-1-2, 10 KOs) of General Santos City against Michael Rodriguez (13-37-1, 3 KOs) of Baguio in an 8-round flyweight bout. Oliva, 26, fought Ulises Solis for the IBF light flyweight title in Jalisco, Mexico in 2011, losing by a 12-round unanimous decision. Rappler.com
