MANILA, Philippines – A few days after Floyd Mayweather Sr. said that a fight between his son and 8-time boxing champion Manny Pacquiao will eventually happen, the unbeaten Floyd “Money” Mayweather Jr was quick to shoot down the report.

“That fight’s gonna happen. Trust me. That fight’s definitely gonna happen,” Mayweather Sr. was quoted telling the media a few days back.

Floyd (47-0-0; 26KOs) debunked the statement and threatened to fire his dad, who’s also his trainer, if he continues to make similar remarks.

“My father is totally wrong,” Mayweather Jr told Fight Hype.

“Like I said before, we have people constantly being removed from the Mayweather Promotions team, Team Mayweather, and we also have people being removed from The Money Team,” Floyd said.

“I want my dad to be with my team, but if he continues to go out there and speak on things that he has no knowledge about without communicating with me, then I must get a new trainer.”

He also suggested Pacquiao (56-5-2; 38KOs) to “keep quiet,” otherwise Mayweather is threatening to expose details about the Filipino athlete.

Both boxers have exchanged insults over the past few weeks.

“The best thing for Pacquiao to do is be quiet before he really gets exposed and I tell some things that he don’t want me to tell,” Floyd said.

Mayweather Jr, 37, also sounds like he prefers to put his undefeated record next against Amir Khan, 27, who has won his last three fights against Luis Collazo, Julio Diaz, and Carlos Molina.

Floyd says he wishes to put Khan “on his backside,” which is why he hopes the two sides “can make it work.”

“I have always said that nobody has any right just to get a fight with me. I am nobody’s pay day, I am nobody’s meal ticket. I take fights that I believe will test me, and will put on a good show for the fans. I ain’t ever taken a fight just because somebody has been running off their mouth. If Khan gets his fight – it will be because I think he deserves a shot,” he said about a potential bout.

Khan (29-3-0; 19KOs) doesn’t lack confidence, having been quoted before saying he believes he can do what no one else yet has: defeat Mayweather Jr.

“He is getting older and showing a lot of mistakes that he didn’t used to do. It is a great time to catch him,” said Khan.

“Floyd looks beatable.”
