WBA interim champ Randy Petalcorin to face Ming in Beijing

MANILA, Philippines – WBA interim junior flyweight champion Randy Petalcorin will face Ma Yi Ming on April 24 at Capital Venue in Beijing, China on a card promoted by Seca and Top Rank. 

Petalcorin (22-1-1, 17 knockouts) of Davao City, Philippines will fight for the first time since August 2014, when he knocked out Walter Tello in seven rounds in Shanghai, China. The 23-year-old, who is rated no. 8 by THE RING magazine at 108 pounds, hasn’t lost since 2010.

Ming, 34, of Da Lian, China has a record of 12-5 (7 KOs) turned pro in 2007, losing his first three fights by knockout. Ming has won 9 fights in a row, including a unanimous decision over Tommy Seran in his last fight in December.

“I think Randy is two levels higher than this guy,” says Jim Claude Manangquil, who co-manages Petalcorin alongside Peter Maniatis of Australia. “Bu it’s up to Randy on fight night. If he shows his 100 percent then this will be an easy night.” – Rappler.com
