MANILA, Philippines – Manny Pacquiao admitted that he has not yet fully achieved his signature speed as he concluded his third day of training at Freddie Roach’s Wild Card Gym in Los Angeles, California.

Pacquiao’s speed was one of the key factors of his success in boxing, capturing 12 world titles in eight different weight classes.

The 36-year-old Filipino southpaw remains optimistic that he will be able to pick up his pace in the coming days.

“I feel slow, but I’m not worried because I still have a lot of time,” Pacquiao wrote in his post on Instagram.

Aside from his training in the gym, Pacquiao also posted a video of him showing off his trademark hand-speed after having his morning run.

Pacquiao flew from the Philippines to Los Angeles over the weekend to spearhead the intense workout for his long-awaited bout against Floyd Mayweather Jr on May 2 (May 3 in Manila) at the 16,800-seater MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Roach’s assistants Buboy Fernandez and Marvin Somodio are currently overseeing the preparation as the seven-time BWAA “Trainer of the Year” recipient is in Macau, China to work with Chinese boxer Zou Shiming, who is scheduled to challenge Amnat Ruenroeng for the IBF flyweight title on Saturday, March 7. – Rappler.com
