Mayweather beating up sparring partners, says uncle
'He's annihilating everybody. He's a beast. This isn't the same old Floyd,' says Uncle Jeff

MANILA, Philippines – Floyd Mayweather Jr has been beating up his sparring partners in preparation for his May 2 super fight against Manny Pacquiao, according to his uncle Jeff Mayweather.

Mayweather (47-0, 26 knockouts) has been sparring with former two-division champion Zab Judah and former 140 pound champ DeMarcus Corley, two men he had previously fought, as part of a ten-man crew.

Camp has been closed, with fans no longer allowed to walk in off the street to watch the pound-for-pound boxing champion train.

Uncle Jeff told Mlive.com that Mayweather has been punishing Judah in particular.

“Just beat the sh-t out of him. He beat Judah so bad, Judah was scared to let his hands go. Everybody was just hyped because they thought Judah was going to be something different, but Judah was worse than the other guys,” Jeff Mayweather said. “It seemed like Floyd had something personal against him. He beat the sh-t out of him. So then he quit, he let Judah off the hook, because Judah’s got a fight coming up and he messed his eye up.

“But the thing is, Floyd, he’s on a different level right now. It may be just his mind, and all the bullsh-t he’s been dealing with with Manny over the years. Obviously, he’s taken that in some kind of way, and I mean, he’s punishing these guys.”

It isn’t just Judah who is feeling the wrath of Mayweather, says Jeff. Aside from the elder statesmen Judah and Corley, a number of young fighters are in camp trying to get the best of Mayweather, whose fight with southpaw boxer Pacquiao (57-5-2, 38 KOs) is expected to exceed all previous financial records.

And Jeff Mayweather says they’re all getting the same treatment as Judah is.

“The kids, early in camp, they don’t care that he’s Floyd Mayweather,” Jeff Mayweather said. “They want to prove something. They’ve proved something, all right. They’re getting destroyed. He’s annihilating everybody. He’s a beast. This isn’t the same old Floyd.”

Jeff Mayweather says that his nephew has benefited from working with former Pacquiao strength and conditioning coach Alex Ariza.

“Originally, I think Floyd got [Ariza] just to mess with Manny’s mind. But he knows Manny’s history and his flaws and everything else.”
