Younghusbands complete squads for Clear Dream Match
MANILA, Philippines - Finally, Team Phil and Team James are ready to set off with their line-ups completed for the second Clear Dream Match.
The Younghusband brothers and Clear rivals drafted their teams from a pool of 50 players from the Philippine Azkals and the United Football League. Phil won the fan polls in the Clear Dream Match Facebook page and was awarded the advantage of picking first in the drafting event held at the Megamall Events Center on Saturday, August 10.
Aiming to be bigger and better this year, Clear will not only showcase local football talents in the most-awaited all-star exhibition match of the year as they bring in world football legends 2006 World Cup Champion Fabio Cannavaro and former Chelsea Captain Dennis Wise to spice up the competition.
"James is more competitive this year. I have different tactics now," said Phil Younghusband who won last year's match, 5-1.
Asked if he did something different this time, Phil shared that he did just the same as last year regarding on planning his team.
The two freely chose their first 5 while the rest of the players were randomly picked from 4 different bowls comprised of defenders, forwards, midfielders, and goal keepers.
Phil's first pick was Global FC midfielder Carlie De Murga while James chose defender Yves Ashime who formerly belonged to his brother's squad.
"I chose a right mixture of defenders, midfielders, and strikers," said James who is determined of getting even this year.
Cannavaro and Wise will fill the last two seats.
Chelsea legend Wise, in a video, said he has always liked the feeling of winning. Thus, he chose the team of last year's winner, Phil. Italian superstar Fabio Cannavaro, meanwhile, picked Team James.
The second edition of the Clear Dream Match will kick off on August 24 at the University of Makati Stadium still for the benefit of Tuloy sa Don Bosco Foundation.
