MANILA, Philippines – Emmanuel Mbata scored a hat-trick while OJ Porteria had a brace of his own as Kaya FC destroyed Team Socceroo, 7-1, in the United Football League, Wednesday night at the Emperador Stadium in Taguig City.

It was a total manhandling of coach David Perkovic’s side on the Division I newcomers as Kaya FC came out firing on all cylinders – with four of its players making it to the score sheet – to take their second win in the 2014 Season.

Coming off a painful loss to Global in their last outing, Chris Greatwich got the scoring party started as he nailed one from the penalty spot to give Kaya a 1-0 headway just 19 minutes into the game. Greatwich would add another goal to his stat sheet before the night was over.

Mbata-Ameachi then scored the first of his three goals of the night ten minutes later and completed his hat-trick within the next 15 minutes as Kaya took a 4-nil lead coming into the halftime break.

With the W practically already in their pockets, Kaya FC showed no signs of slowing down as Toshiya Hosoe headed in his team’s fifth goal just five minutes after the break.

Team Socceroo, however, was able to capitalize on Kaya’s rare blunders as Mu Lee Jeong found himself firing into an empty net in the hour-mark to score his squad’s lone goal of the night.

Porteria – who was cleared to play in this game after his red card versus Global FC was downgraded to a yellow – answered right back one minute later to make it a 6-1 lead for Kaya.

The Azkals forward then wrapped up the night with an 81st minute goal to notch for Kaya its sixth point this season and overtake Global, Pachanga, and Philippine Army in the table.

Team Socceroo – who will square off with Stallion on Saturday, January 25 – drops to 0-3 to stay last among the nine teams in the top flight. Kaya, on the other hand, also faces Stallion in their next game on Tuesday, January 28. – Rappler.com
